COLUMBUS—Herman J. Webster, 86, a retired Custer postmaster and former Billings resident, died Friday morning of a heart attack in a Columbus nursing home.
Mr. Webster was born April 21, 1876, in
Wisconsin, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Webster.
He married Edna May Clement Aug. 23, 1900 in Baraboo, Wis. The Websters moved from Wisconsin to Spokane in 1906, then to Billings in 1915.
They went to Custer in 1936 when he was named postmaster there. He retired in 1957. Mrs. Webster died in March, 1958, in Billings.
Mr. Webster was active in Masonic organizations, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Billings.
Survivors include on son, Everett S. Webster of Forest-Grove, Ore.; five daughters, Mrs. Venita Shepard of Camarillo, Calif., Mrs. Harold Hopkins of Custer, Mrs. Maynard Jones of Molt, Mrs. Leigh Harden of Ithica, N.Y., and Mrs. David Schoessler of Ellensberg, Wash.; one sister; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Settergren-Carey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
