Services Friday March 21. Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in the Osceola Cemetery with Military rites by Osceola Legion Post #91.
Wes was born May 27, 1919 to Andrew & Selma (Anderson) Peterson in rural Stromsburg. He attended elementary school at District 50 and graduated from Stromsburg High School in May of 1936. He worked in Stromsburg at the chicken hatchery and also at Economy Grocery Store until August 31, 1941 when he married Lois W. Anderson. They moved to Wichita, Kansas and he worked at Beech Aircraft for 3 years. Their daughter, Louise was born there. He joined the US Navy in 1944 and served 2 years on the USS Brookings. Lois and Louise moved back to Osceola during his time in the Navy. When he returned, he ran a Standard Oil gas station in Osceola from 1946 to 1948. They moved to the farm 5 miles west of Osceola in the spring of 1948. They resided there until 1984. Wes loved farming and stayed active in the business into his 80's.
He was a father to 3 daughters and one son. He was baptized, confirmed and married in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola. He sang in the choir for 60 years and sang at countless funerals and weddings. He served on the church board, Farm Bureau board, Co-Op Elevator board, Osceola school board and was a member of American Legion Unit #91.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth and Vernon, and one sister Evelynne Oberg.
