Ruth Lillian Stauffer, 90, Lecompton, KS, died on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Hickory Pointe Care Center in Oskaloosa, She was born on November 21, 1923 in Beach, North Dakota, the daughter of Elmer Cecil and Elva Bennett King. She was a 1941 graduate of Salina High School and attended York College, York, NE, the University of Kansas, and completed her masters degree in 1964 at Washburn Universtiy. She was a school teacher for many years, teaching at Lecompton Elementary school. She retired after 25 years. She was a member of the Lecompton United Methodist church and served as the Church Organist and Choir director for 40 years. She married Joseph Saylor Stauffer in Topeka, on January 30, 1944, he preceded her in death on June 11, 2012. Survivors include two sons, Ron (Wendy) Stauffer; Denny (Mary) Stauffer, both of Lawrence, two daughters, Linda Stauffer of Humboldt, IA, Debra Fuston, Topeka, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Memorial Services will be at a later date. Cremation is planned. inurnment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Lecompton.
