The son of Stephen T & Chloe A [Norris] Letcher, he married Emily Parilee Sharp shortly after the 1870 census, in Alabama, they had six known children, all born Bowie Co; Ada, Teeby Edward, Maud O, Luke Alexander, Louise "Lou", and John Clay Letcher.

Henry first appears on the Bowie County Texas Tax Rolls, in 1872, with his brother Stephen B Letcher. He maintained his 178 acres in the Daniel Morris Headright survey, from 1880 to 1899, and possibly
until his death in 1905, he may be buried on this same land. For some time he also had 100 acres in the John A Reed Headright survey, but sold his land before 1887.

It is obvious Henry was a farmer, as he seemed to always, have plenty of Horses, Cattle, Hogs and goats, as the numbers of the animals changed frequently each year, it seems he may have sold some for income.

Henry had 4 siblings living in Bowie County; Louvenia Ann Letcher Shaver, Stephen Baker "Bake" Letcher, Paralle G Letcher Pardue, and the youngest, James Frances Tolbert Letcher.

Henry had the following Siblings:
