Weldon John Savoie Sr., 84, a native of Houma and longtime resident of Bourg, died at 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at St. Ann Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ruby Hebert Savoie, of Montegut; son, Weldon John Savoie II and wife, Elena; daughters, Judith Farmer and husband, James, Jodith Savoie, and Deborah Savoie; grandchildren, Shelly Savoie, Shannon Jakabosky, Hayley and Hannah Savoie, Troy and Mitchell Matherne, and Casie and Brook Boutte; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Carroll Savoie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Abel Anthony Savoie and Stella Roger Savoie; brother, Irvin "Do-Do" Joseph Savoie; and sister, Joyce Savoie Talbot.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a retiree of Union Oil Co. after 34 years of service. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and kindness.

He was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Cinnater and staff, Bayou Home Care, and all the compassionate physicians and nurses at TGMC, who cared for him throughout his long battle with diabetes. They are also grateful for the wonderful friends and neighbors who lent a hand.

A very special "thank you" to his granddaughter, Shelly, for her unconditional love, devotion and care.
