Norma Grace Childers was born March 5, 1932, in Murphysboro to Clarence E. Wayman and Elva Mae (Jacobs) Wayman. Her surviving siblings were Robert Wayman and Mary Calandro. She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters -- Peggy Wayman, Betty Waldron, Ella Belle Moore and Dorothy Farley.
She was first married to Marvin LaVern Johnson, later marrying Clarence Childers. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1993. She left one son, Marty (Tracy) Johnson.
Mrs. Childers worked at Calcrest and retired from Nutrition Headquarters in Carbondale.
She died at the age of 74 on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital. Her funeral was held at Pettett Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Boyd officiated.
