Sherman Milton Mounts
July 24, 1922 - February 14, 2014

Sherman M. Mounts, 91, of Claysville died Friday, February 14, 2014 in Hillsview Personal Care Home, Claysville, Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was born July 24, 1922 in Buffalo Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, a son of the late William Harrison and Sylvia Scott Mounts.

Mr. Mounts proudly served in the United States Army during World War II earning a good conduct medal, European African middle eastern campaign medal with four bronze stars, as well as a World War II Victory Medal.
He worked as a steel grinder for Precision Products in Washington until 1969. He was a member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Washington, where he served as a deacon and trustee. He also belonged to Claysville American Legion Post #639.

On February 14, 1946 he married M. Eleanor Wolfe with whom he shared over 53 years of marriage before her passing on September 24, 1999.
He is survived by five children Del (Patty) Mounts of Washington, Darlene (Paul) Donahoo of Washington, Jerry (Jill) Mounts of Winchester, Virginia, Dan (Donna) Mounts of Claysville, Tom (Vicky) Mounts of Winchester, Virginia, a sister Martha Rinehart of Claysville, 15 grandchildren Tracie (Rob) Webber, Kevin Mounts, Richard Donahoo, Jared (Keri) Mounts, Jennifer (Nick) Myers, George W. Mounts II, Joshua (Jennifer) Mounts, Eric (Amanda) Mounts, Desiree' Mounts, Devon Mounts, Nica Burchett, Hilary (Shae) Davis, Lee Burchett, Jason (Dawn) Spitzer, Jeremy (Jennifer) Spitzer, as well as 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his wife M. Eleanor Mounts and his parents are a son George W. Mounts, a granddaughter Darla Donahoo, two sisters Mildred Applegate, Louise Breese, five brothers William S. Mounts Sr., Melvin E. Mounts Sr., Cephas S. Mounts, Charles G. Mounts, Ronald D. Mounts Sr.

Family and friends will be received Monday from 6-8p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 19, 2014 at 11:00a.m. with Rev. Meade Lacock officiating. At the request of the family memorial contributions may be made to Washington Alliance Church 246 Sanitarium Road Washington, PA 15301 or to Washington City Mission 84 W Wheeling Street Washington, PA 15301. Sherman will be buried next to his wife, Eleanor, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, the village of Pleasant Grove, Washington County, Pennsylvania. Full military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #639 of Claysville.
