OBITUARY
Cephas Stanley Mounts, 87, if Claysville (Buffalo Township), Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at 1:00 am, at Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington.

He was born March 12, 1915, in Claysville, a son of William H. and Sylvia Jane [Scott] Mounts.

He was a member of Taylorstown Presbyterian Church, where he was a very active church worker, and a trustee, and Sunday School teacher and Superintendent.

Mr. Mounts attended Highland School and was employed as a driller and pumper in oil fields. He was known locally for shearing sheep.

He was a longtime Supervisor for Buffalo Township and served as a Buffalo Township School Board Director.

On April 14, 1938, in Washington County, he married Ruth Elizabeth Ashmore, who survives.

He was previously married to Catherine Byers, who is deceased.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Emma Jayne Rush, of Claysville, Carolyn Ruth Penn, of Washington, and Nancy Lee Devenney, of Washington, two brothers, Sherman and Ronald Dean Mounts, two sisters, Louise Breese and Martha Rhinehart, nine grandchildren, Shaun M. Rusmisel, Jr., John F. Penn III, Caren Shadeck, Nancy Engle, Elizabeth Cox, Jennifer Rush, John Devenney, Jr., and Jay and Jeffrey Devenney, and sixteen great grandchildren.

Deceased in addition to his first wife are three brothers, Wiiliam, Melvin, and Charles Mounts and a sister, Mildred Applegate.

Friends will be received Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, in the Taylorstown Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Taylorstown, where services will be held Friday, January 24, 2003 at 11:00 AM, with Lay Preacher Patricia Lutz and Rev. Susan VandeKappelle co-officiating. Interment in Claysville Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Taylorstown Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Taylorstown, Pennsylvnia.
