Roy Carone Francis, always known to everyone as "R.C.", 90 years old, passed away March 9, 2016, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mount Vernon, MO. R.C. was born March 1, 1926, at Koshkonong, MO, the son of Franklin Francis and Berta (Huddleston) Francis.
He married Mary Francis Rose April 9, 1951 at Salem, AR; and they lived most of their married life in Springfield, MO. He became a resident at Mount Vernon Veterans Home in 2007.
He served in the CCC's stationed in Idaho; and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees.
R.C. was baptized into the Baptist faith at an early age. He served as Deacon for several years.
In early life, he helped his father on the farm with dairy cows. He helped his uncle Troy run a milk route; and was partner and mechanic at a garage. He retired from the City of Springfield as maintenance supervisor. He was a master mechanic.
He enjoyed fishing and camping; and road trips with his family. He also enjoyed the entertainers at Branson, MO.
He is survived by one sister, Thelma Russell of Koshkonong, MO; one brother, Franklin "Pete" Francis and wife, Ellen of Independence, MO; two brothers-in-law, Chester Rose of Independence, MO; and John D. Jackson of El Dorado, KS; one sister-in-law, Ruby Francis of Mountain Home, AR; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three children, Loy Ivan, Dan Roy, and Dena Ren; eight siblings, Freda Clark, Floyd Francis, Charlene Parent, J.R. Francis; Modena Rose; Evelyn Thomson; Wanda Lee "Squeak" Jackson, and Duane Francis.
Visitation is Tuesday March 15 2016 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Funeral services will be Wednesday March 16 2016 also at Greenlawn North. Interment will follow the service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
