Irene was one of fourteen children born to John Edward Hill and Mary Alice (Hayes). Her siblings were: Albert Edward, Eva, Agnes, Lem, Elizabeth Cramer, Sarah Ann, Alvin "Dutch", Mary Ellen, Burnice, Emily, Geneva, Jack, and Ada. She was an Arizona native who moved with her family to Phoenix in 1918 by covered wagon.

On December 24, 1939 she married Reuben "Bud" Grauer. They had two sons, John and Mitch.

Irene was 97 years old when she passed away. She was survived by her sons and sister, Ada. Her husband, parents, and other siblings preceded her. A graveside service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2007 at Phoenix Memorial Park under the direction of Menke Funeral Home. Pastor Clay O. McGuire of Lighthouse Fellowship officiated.

Irene Barbara Grauer, 97, of Phoenix passed away June 2, 2007. An Arizona native, she was born June 25, 1909 in Miami, AZ coming to Phoenix in 1918 by covered wagon. A member of the North Hills Church of God since 1922. She is survived by her sons, Mitch Grauer and John Murphy Grauer; grandchildren Jeff Grauer, Tim Grauer, Mike Grauer, Walt Grauer, Chuck Reingruber, Kelly Durkett, Mike Miller and Sue Miller. Her sister Ada Winn, 10 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband R.R. "Bud" Grauer March 15, 1975. Also preceding her are her 3 brothers, Albert, Dutch & Lem Hill; 6 sisters Evie Harper, Aggie Reid, Lizzie Hedgepath, Mary Guthridge, Emily Womack, Sara Francis and her infant twin siblings Jack & Bernice. Prior to her death Irene resided with her grand-daughter & grandson Scarlett & Tim and her great grandsons Jackson & Bailey. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 8, 2007 at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 W. Beardsley Rd., Phoenix, AZ. Donations are suggested to Solari Hospice Care, 4648 E. Shea Blvd. Ste. A150, Phoenix, AZ 85028. Menke Funeral Home handled arrangements.
