LEONA DUNCAN

Leona Muriel Duncan, 93, Cannon Falls died on Monday morning, March 17,1997, at Our Lady of the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls.

She was born on December 29, 1903 in Vasa Township, the daughter of Arthur and Ella (Johnson) Lindell.

Leona was baptized on January 29, 1904 by Reverand J.J. Froden of Spring Garden Lutheran Church and was confirmed by Reverand E.A. Lindgren at Vasa Lutheran Church on May 23, 1920. She attended country school and later worked in White Rock at the Miller Telephone Company as an operator. She also helped as a housekeeper for area households.

She married Gifford H. Duncan on February 4, 1928 in Minneapolis. He died on June 20, 1980.

She was a member of St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls where she had formerly been active in the ladies' aid.

She is survived by three sons, Archie (Marie) Duncan and Harlan all of Cannon Falls and Clair (Kathy) Duncan of Red Wing; three daughters, Norma (Bob) Taylor of Northfield, Marcelyn (Joe) Jacobson of Nerstrand and Lois (Tim) Stenerson of Red Wing; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brother Cyrus Lindell of Welch; sister Bernice Hedstrom of Cannon Falls; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gifford; a daughter-in-law Dixie Duncan; great-granddaughter Amy Klassen; brothers Kenneth and Vernon Lindell; and sisters Blanche Lundell, Eunice Anderson, Venice Lindell, and Marie Young.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 20 at 2 p.m. at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church with pastor Dana Peterson officiating. Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation on Thursday at the church from 1-2 p.m.

Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Richard and Roger Taylor, Deanna Duncan, Daniel and Larry Duncan, Keith and Mark Jacobson, Timothy and Jeffrey Stenerson, Bryce and Pat Duncan. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters Karen Lundell, Susan Taylor, Nicole Bergerson, Nancy Randolph, Laura Klassen, Mary Couch, Cynthia Jacobson and Karen Von Bargen.
