Married Cora Estelle Sabin 10 JUL 1890 in Grayson County, Texas.

Occupation: Retired

TX d/c 34364

~~~~~~~
John and Cora lived in Denison, Grayson, TX where John worked on the wrecker for the Katy Railroad fo r most of his working life. [Cora had a rail pass, which she used often in later years.] Cora & John were tall people for their time. Cora was 5'8" or more, and John was more than 6'2". Cora & John's children were tall like them.
~~~~~~~

Their son Walter was a major league baseball player. Walt was a pitcher, his rookie season with the World Champion 1918 Boston Red Sox. He and Babe Ruth were the two biggest men on the team. They were both young and rowdy, liked to drink, and were cohorts in a famous story from a train ride during the World Series.

Uncle Walter, Uncle Mike, and my grandfather Carl were all at least 6'3. I also remember meeting Aunt Elsie, Aunt Wilma, Aunt Mildred, and Aunt Margaret. They were all taller than my mother who was 5'7.
