Inscription

Born in Ereson, England. Father gone to meet her. --- NOTATION FROM OUR ENLGISH COUSIN: "Finally "Ereson" on John Atwells tombstone can be explained. Richard Atwell (father of John) and his large family lived in an area of Ramsgate called "Hereson". In the South of England we have the habit of dropping the first "H" of a word in conversation . (Dick Van Dyke rather over did this habit in Mary Poppins!) It's possible that this is how John's relatives pronounced it and that's how it appeared on the tombstone."

Gravesite Details

Buried next to his wife, Mary F. Atwell.
