Bessie was raised in Payne County, and married Harry Samuel Hart at her parent's home on October 31, 1909. She and Harry lived first in Glencoe, then in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and finally up in Lincoln and El Dorado, Kansas.
Bessie and Harry were the parents of four children: Everett Truman, Sr. (1910-1994); Otis Lester (1912-1987); Eugene Wilson (1916-1969) [my father]; and Dorotha "Dorothy" Irene (1923-2012).
Bessie and Harry had been married 45 years when he died in 1954. Bessie died from a heart attack at 1508 Finney in El Dorado, the home of her daughter, Dorothy, on January 18, 1959 just a few days short of her 67th birthday (Kansas Death Certificate # 59-000131).
Bessie was a member of the El Dorado First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Andrina Chapter.
Survivors included all of her four children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, as well as three sisters: Minnie Adeline (Addie) Coleman Herman (1885-1963), Canon City, Colorado; Mary Jane Coleman Hall (1894-1969), Stillwater, Oklahoma; and Hazel Nellie Coleman Musgrave (1898-1969), Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Funeral services were held on January 22, 1959 at the First Baptist Church in El Dorado officiated by the Rev. Ralph Matthews. The songs "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "Further Along" were sung. Kirby Funeral Home had the arrangements. Bessie was buried beside her husband at the Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado.
