Eugene Wilson was my father. He was born to Harry Samuel and Bessie Etta (Coleman) Hart at home in Stillwater, Oklahoma on March 23, 1917. He was their third son, and the third of their four children. Oklahoma Birth Certificate #82521 (filed as Delayed Certificate on June 23, 1941).

Gene lived in El Dorado, Kansas with his parents and siblings. He graduated from El Dorado High School in 1935, and afterwards took classes in accounting in Wichita, Kansas.

While working for Deep Rock Oil Company in Hays, Kansas he met and married my mother, Mary Margaret Groff from Sapulpa, Oklahoma, on September 24, 1938 over in Russell, Kansas. By 1942 they had moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where two daughters were born, Rebecca in 1942 and MarGene in 1944.

Sometime in 1945 Gene was informed he would be called up to serve in the military during World War II, and he moved his family up to El Dorado, Kansas to stay with his family while he was gone. However, before he could be inducted, the war with Germany ended. He later moved his family to Wood River, Illinois where he worked in the oil industry with his brother, Otis.

In early 1953 he and his family moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma where Mary's parents lived. In December 1955 he and Mary divorced, and he moved to different places in Oklahoma and Kansas for work. In 1964 he was hospitalized for TB at the state hospital in McAlister, Oklahoma for a short while.

In the summer of 1965 Gene met Rosa Lee Allen, and they were married on September 11, 1965 in Eufaula, Oklahoma. They were very happily married for over 3 years until Gene died.

At 52 years old Gene died suddenly (cardiac disease) in his office (bookkeeper for a construction company) at work in Oklahoma City on April 4, 1969 -Oklahoma Death Certificate # 07583. He was brought back to Rosa's home town of Henryetta, Oklahoma. Funeral services were officiated by Rev. R.B. Kelly at the Shurden-Buchanan Funeral Home. He was buried next to Rosa's mother at West Lawn Cemetery on April 7, 1969.

Survivors included his wife, Rosa Lee, of the home; daughter, MarGene Hart Ludlow (Donald) of Cortland, New York; step-daughter, Rosa Mae Yancey (Al) of Savanna, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Bruce Alan and Mark Howard Ludlow; siblings: Dorothy Hart Nickel (Allen) and Everett Hart, both of El Dorado, Kansas; and Otis Hart of Orem, Utah.

Obituaries published on April 6, 1969 in the Henryetta Daily Freelance newspaper (Oklahoma) and on April 7, 1969 in The El Dorado Times newspaper (Kansas).
