Final rites for Mrs. Frances Jane Rolen, 94-year-old resident of Winnsboro, were to be held at 3:30 p.m. at the New Hope Methodist Church near Sikes. Interment, under the direction of the First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro, was to follow in the New Hope cemetery.

Mrs. Rolen, mother of Mrs. Bertha Bratton of Monroe, died Tuesday in a Monroe hospital. She had been in ill health for several weeks and was hospitalized for the past two weeks.

A prayer service was slated to be held at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the Funeral Home. The Rev. Jimmy Hipps, pastor of the Beouf [sic Boeuf] River Baptist Church near Winnsboro, assisted by the Rev. T. O. Airton [sic Arrington], were to officiate at both services.

Mrs. Rolen is survived by four daughter[s], Mrs. Lizzie Lee of Columbia, Mrs. Bratton of Monroe, Mrs. Belle Buchan of Jonesboro, and Mrs. Areth[a] Warner of Winnsboro; four sons, Henry S. Rolen of Winnsboro, John Rolen of Many, Robert Rolen of Seagraves, Texas, and George Rolen of Morrow; 47 grandchildren; 97 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Henry P. Rolen, Monroe Rolen, Bobby Joe Lee, H. L. Lee, Floyd Warner and Elton Bratton.

Gravesite Details

Mrs. Rolen was the youngest child of Shadrick Emmons and Mrs. Catharine [Morgan/Mooring?] Miller, who married about 1854 in Choctaw Co., MS. She married her late husband, Henry Lewis Rolen, on January 20, 1887 in Winnfield, LA.
