Adelard LaChance Dies Suddenly
Rochester, June 10 – Adelard LaChance, 55, for many years a merchant in this city, died suddenly Sunday morning at his home on 45 Pine street.
Mr. LaChance was born in (St. Severin, P.Q.) Canada, the son of Thomas and Mijaefe Champaigne (Miraise Champagne per the death Certificate) LaChance and came to this city to reside over 50 years ago.
He was a shoemaker by trade and later was engaged in conducting stores. For many years he conducted a variety store near the post office and at the time of his death has a store on Waldron avenue.
He was prominent in fraternal orders. He was a member of the Rochester Lodge of Elks, St. Jean Baptiste, and the Foresters.
Included among the surviving relatives are five sons, Polycarpe LaChance of Farmington, Armand, Romeo, Edgar and Lucien LaChance, all of Rochester.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 8:30 at the Holy Rosary church and interment will be in the family lot in Holy rosary cemetery.
Undertaker Henry J. Grondin will be in charge of the funeral arrangements.
