Raymond Romeo Lachance, 91, died Monday, August 20, 2007, at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a period of failing health.

Mr. Lachance was born on December 10, 1915, the son of Adelard and Leontine (Sylvain) Lachance and was a lifelong resident of Rochester. Prior to his retirement he worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for many years as a crane operator.

He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during WWII. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Club Victoire. He also enjoyed gardening, loved woodworking and was an excellent cabinet maker, donating his handiwork or giving them away as gifts. He also made wooden toys and donated them to Toys for Tots.

Surviving members of the family include: his wife, Lorraine Lachance of Rochester, one daughter, Linda Lachance of Rochester and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friend may call at the HJ Grondin & Son Funeral Home, 177 North Main Street, Rochester, NH on Saturday form 9-10AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Saturday at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 189 North Main Street, Rochester, NH with burial to follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Somersworth.
