BOSSIER CITY, LA - Funeral services for Mr. Harley D. Horton, Jr. will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2008 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel with Rev. Tommy Patton of Cypress Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA.
Mr. Horton was born October 15, 1925 in Coushatta, LA to Harley D. Sr. and Eva Clark Horton. He entered into eternal life on Friday, January 11, 2008 at the age of 82, after a lengthy illness. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Bossier City (formerly John Knox Presbyterian Church).
He attended Coushatta High School and graduated from Rocky Mount High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and defended his country in the Battle of the Bulge, receiving a Purple Heart. Mr. Horton retired from M.L. Bath Company after 36 years of service. A motorcycle enthusiast, he was a lifetime member of the Free Spirits Motorcycle Club.
His parents and a sister, Eva Lucille Horton, preceded Mr. Horton in death.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Helen Smith Horton; son, Glen H. Horton and wife Christi of Haughton, LA; daughter, Jan H. Tooke and husband Nick of Benton, LA; brother, Ronald W. Horton and wife Theresa of Bixby, OK; four grandchildren, Landon Tooke and wife Jan of Calhoun, LA, Paul Horton and wife Susan of Fort Worth, TX, Kyle Tooke of Bossier City, LA, Valerie Ashby and husband Josh of Benton, LA; great grandchild, Emily Tooke of Calhoun, LA and nephew, Darrell Horton.
Honoring Mr. Horton as pallbearers will be Nick Tooke, Landon Tooke, Paul Horton, Kyle Tooke, Josh Ashby and Kenneth Smith.
