1930 U.S Federal Census
Merlin O. Olsen, age 30 yrs old born in Minnesota living with many other Adults,
inpatient at the Glen Lake Sanatorium in Minnetonka, Henn. Co MN.
Date on original Census Form April 7, 1930 Of the many adults sited, it appears Merlin was the only one in his immediate Family who was amongst the many Patients being treated inpatient for T.B. on that 1930 Census. Sited Merlin as age 30 yrs old and single.

----
Glen Lake T. B. Sanatorium In Minnetonka MN was one of the first to open as a
Hospital and Treatment Center in Hennepin Co. MN for persons with
Tuberculosis about 1916. If accurate, Initially it served about 50 people and
then expanded to more buildings and programs. By 1930 when Merlin stayed inpatient at Glen Lake many building were added to attempt to accommodate the great need at that time well over 600 capacity by 1925 (or more ? )persons. There were many affected by T.B. years ago.

to note:
Merlin's Widowed Sister Mabel Olsen Gilman was sited on a different
1930 U.S. Federal Census as living at 14th St in Mpls MN The 1930 Census
sited Mabel Olsen was living in the Norwegian Boarding Home and sited it as an Institution. It was close to downtown Mpls Mn . Mabel was living with
many adults. She was working at the time. Lutheran Deaconess Hospital back than appeared to have some homes for persons affected by illness including T.B they also referred to as Norwegian Boarding Homes. Not confirmed this was the case for Mabel,
except she had many family living in Mpls who would have welcomed her
to stay with them after she Widowed in 1921 returned to living in Mpls. The Lutheran
Boarding Home Institution address is a block from where another one of the with the same name affiliated with the Lutheran Deaconess Hospital was a Boarding Home
Institution that housed Adults and housed at least one or more families affected by T.B. ( latent T.B. versus active T.B. ? ) or other illness. The other homes that
housed families sited some adults working and they paid rent to live there. Mabel's specific situation not known.
