Jackie L. "Jack" Cornwell, age 82 of Elwood, died Monday, October 21, 2013 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood after an extended illness. He was born June 13, 1931 in Elwood, the son of Benjamin and Alice L. (Luse) Cornwell. He retired in 1985 from Delco Remy Corporation in Anderson where he worked in production for more than 37 years. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Jack married Juanita F. Davis on October 30, 1953. Jack was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and dedicated his life to serving his church. Jack was proud that he had traveled to each of the Morman Temples in The United States, and was honored to have worked in the Chicago Temple. He served as Branch President of Anderson L.D.S. Church, and was later named Bishop of the Anderson Ward. Jack was a loving husband and father, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Jack's family includes 2 children, Rose Marie (husband Doug) Coffman of Blackfoot, Idaho and Randall L. Conwell of Chesterfield; 9 grandchildren, Megan, Tyler, Adrian, Allison, Brittany, Ann, Emily, Danielle, and Grant; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of nearly 50 years, Juanita F. Cornwell who died October 10, 2003; 4 brothers, Robert Cornwell, Donald Cornwell, James Cornwell, and Neal Cornwell; infant son, Gary Cornwell, and great-grandson, Kayson Cornwell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Elwood Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with President Terry Hartman presiding. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 8 PM Friday, October 25, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
