A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. They will also greet friends following services with a coffee time at the funeral home.
Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association-Greater Iowa Chapter may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home or if mailing to the funeral home, please add Attn: Horney Family on the envelope.
Survivors include his wife, Ola of Newton; two sons, David Horney of Marshalltown and Rickie (Chris) Horney of Marshalltown; two daughters, Vickie (Phillip) Grommet of Marshalltown and Violet (Gary) Peterson of Newton; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons; a brother; and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Barbara Horney; and three brothers.

Charles H. Horney was born July 09, 1921 to Edwin and Pearl (McLain) Horney.
Among those left to honor are four grandchildren, Mike (Heather) Morris of Conaway, Arkansas, Shawn (Brandi) Morris of Conrad, Iowa, Eric Peterson of Wilton, Iowa, and Jennifer Peterson of Newton; two great-grandsons, Cole Morris and Benjamin Peterson; his brother, Oliver "Junior" Horney of Urbandale, Iowa; and his two sisters, Nadine Beller of Knoxville, Iowa, and Jeniose (Paul) Buckalew of Grimes, Iowa.
His brothers that preceded him in death were Delbert, Dewayne, and John Horney.
Charles served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II.
Charles was a production worker at the Maytag Company for 33 years, retiring in 1989.
