John LeBold Sr., 504 N. Hill Street died at 4:30 a.m. today in St. Joseph's Hospital after an illness of several years. He had been seriously ill two months.

Born in Francesville, Ind., on June 1, 1869, he moved to South Bend from Millersburg in 1945 upon his retirement. He had been a farmer. On Feb. 11, 1896, in Goodland, Ind., he married Clara V. Weishaar, who survives with four sons. Fred and Lawrence, both of Coldwater, Mich., John of Gary, and Bernard of Wakarusa; four daughters, Mrs. Mabel Probst of Sturgis, Mrs. Rosetta Singler, Mrs. Cybella Stone and Mrs. Mary Lindley, all of South Bend; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call after 7p.m. Saturday in the Orivs Funeral Home. Services will be at 10a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas F. Peyton, C.S.C., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Mr. Lebold was an honorary life member of Holy Name society of St. Joseph's Church. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Leonard, Floyd and Tony LeBold, Edward Singler, and Oshel Ward.
