A retired registered nurse and resident and native of Baton Rouge, she died at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1997, at her residence. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting at the funeral home chapel, 10 a.m. until religious services at 1 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Carroll Marr. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by husband, Thomas B. Raborn, Baton Rouge; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Kay Raborn, Baton Rouge, and Ken and Merle Raborn, Rayville; four brothers, Leighton, Elgene Sr. and Lester Achord Sr., all of Baton Rouge, and Chester Achord Jr., Springfield; six grandchildren, Steve Raborn, Richmond, Texas, Tracey Raborn, Pensacola, Fla.,Kevin Raborn, Baton Rouge, Tom Raborn, Rayville, Scott Raborn, Starkville, Miss., and Jonathan Raborn, Rayville; and stepmother, Josephine V. Achord, Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by mother and father, Gertrude T. Achord and Chester A. Achord Sr.; a daughter, Sue Raborn; and a brother, Jerome V. Achord Sr. Pallbearers will be grandchildren. She was a member of Zoar Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to Zoar Baptist Church Building Fund, 11848 Hooper Road, Baton Rouge, 70818.
