Shelton

Word has been received in Waynesburg of the death Tuesday morning, May 19, 1980, of Mrs. Wilma (Billie) Anderson Shelton, 71, Bridgeton, N. J., a native of Greene County and former resident of Waynesburg. She had been ill for the past six years.

The family residence was at Oakview Heights, Bridgeton.

Mrs. Shelton was the wife of George (Sooner) Shelton, a track star at Waynesburg College and later track coach at Bridgeton High School.

Mrs. Shelton was a daughter of George W. and Myrtle G. Anderson and was born March 2, 1909, in Bristoria, where she resided during early life. She was graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1928, having been a member of the first class graduated from the Margaret Bell Miller building.

She also graduated from Washington Business College after which she was employed in the Business department at the Democrat Messenger newspaper.

As a young woman she was a talented singer and dancer and appeared in many stage shows in Waynesburg as a team with the late Margaret (Peg) Kimble. She was a member of the Bridgeton United Methodist Church.

She was married September 9, 1943, at Brownsville and resided there while her husband taught at Brownsville High School. They later lived at Monongahela prior to moving to Bridgeton, where Mr. Shelton was a teacher and track coach from 1945 until his retirement.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, George (Andy) Shelton and J. Daniel Shelton, both of Bridgeton; a brother, James R. Anderson of Holbrook, and a sister, Mrs. Delmar (Freda) Inghram of Las Vegas, Nev.

Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
