Tony Seifert Dies After Brief Illness
Former County Jailer, Long Time Resident of State, Passes Saturday
An illness of about a week proved fatal [??] Saturday to Anthony (Tony) Seifert, 64, 920 3d ave. n. former county jailer and colorful Montana character. The body will be taken from the O'Connor chapel to the family home at 5 Monday afternoon and the funeral services will be held at the home at 8:50 Tuesday morning and at St. Ann's cathedral at 9:15 when holy mass will be celebrated. Burial will be in Mount Olivet. Knights of Columbus and friends will meet at the home at 8 Monday evening to recite the rosary.
Seifert became ill last week and Monday was taken to a hospital.
Seifert was born Sept. 20, 1873 at Jordan, Minn. When he was 16 years old he came to Montana and setted at Lewistown, where he worked as a butcher. In 1896 he married Jessie Ellis and two years later they moved to Great Falls.
Prior to working for the Great Falls Meat Co., Seifert was employed as a bar tender at the Sixteen to One. He then went into business for himself and operated the [Paragon?] bar [??] shortly before prohibition.
When Bob Gordon and E.L. Shields were in office, as sheriffs Seifert served as latter and after that became manager of the Glacier bar. Since last August he had been employed as bartender at the [Penhart?].
Survivors in addition to the widow are three daughters, Mrs. Helen Bartley and Mrs. Ethel Miller of Great Falls and Mrs. Lucille Smith of Havre; a son, Leo Seifert of Great Falls; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Cecelia Seifert of Lewistown; four nephews and nine grandchildren.
