Paul Siple Slaven, 74, son of the late Harry F. and Maude Siple Slaven of Highland, died unexpectedly near his home at Sandston, Thursday, Feb. 16. Mr. Slaven was born at Monterey, where he lived until 1935 when he moved to Ferrum. Several years later he moved to Henrico County and later moved to Sandston. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and was a Mason. He was a cabinet-maker and carpenter and assisted in much building in and around Monterey during his years here. He is survived by his wife, the former Lillie Warwick; a sister, Mrs. Elsie Lunsford, Wilmington, Del.; and two brothers, Bruce Slaven, of Harrisonburg, and Forest L. Slaven, Ripley, W. Va. A brother and sister preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Saturday evening from a Richmond funeral home. Graveside services were conducted at Monterey Cemetery Sunday at 2 p.m.
