Jean Marie Loiseau, 80, of Freeland, died March 2, 2004.

She was born Nov. 12, 1923, in Creston, Lincoln County, to Roy Alvin Anyan and the former Minnie Watson "Grandma Anyan." She was the 12th of 17 children.

She married Euan E. Loiseau on March 29, 1952, in Lewiston, Idaho. Jean and Euan had five children.

Jean "Gramm" made her homes in Reardon, Spokane, the Seattle area and finally on Whidbey Island, where she enjoyed the beauty of Puget Sound and the friendly people. She was employed by the Boeing Co., Pepsi Co., and retired from the city of Seattle Animal Control.

Her only true love was her family. She embodied the idea of charity as she provided for their four children, and somehow fashioned them into productive, caring citizens. Suffering major physical and emotional hardships, she never complained. She loved to visit her mother and family in the Spokane area. Sunday dinner at Gramm's house was a bit of heaven on earth.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and she was active in the Seattle North Stake, Fifth Ward, and the Everett Stake, South Whidbey Ward.

She is survived by four children, Wendy Michelle and her husband, David Parent, Amiel Decasta and his wife, Sharon, Jeret Alvin and his wife, Suzanne, and Lori Lynn and her husband, Ralph Ortlinghaus.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5425 Maxwelton Road. Burial will be at the Langley Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Visser Funeral Home, Langley.
