NEVA I. OVERSTREET
Neva I. Overstreet, age 90, of Edina, Missouri, died Sunday, February 25, 2007, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
Neva was born on August 7, 1916, at Kenwood, Missouri, the oldest child of Pearl and Elsie Poston Clair.
On June 23, 1935, at Novelty, Missouri she was united in marriage to Clinton R. Overstreet and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2001.
Neva was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ernest and Junior Clair and a sister Martha Calhoun and two brothers in infancy.
Surviving are a son Larry Overstreet and his wife Lois Ann of Edina, Missouri, a daughter Bonnie Sue Kite and her husband Mike of Edina, Missouri, eight grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, one brother, James Clair of Memphis, Missouri, one sister, Neoma Baker of Knox City, Missouri, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Neva was a life long resident of Knox County where she and her husband were engaged in farming west of Edina for sixty-six years. For the past four years she has resided at the Knox County Residential Care Facility.
Neva was employed for Clarence Gilbert Southside Drug for many years and also for Gilberts Appliance. She also worked at the Knox County Nursing Home for ten years as a Nurses Aide.
Neva enjoyed house flowers and flower gardening, raising chickens and loved spending time with family and friends and her church family.
She had been a Christian and a member of the Hurdland Baptist Church since 1956. She taught Sunday school and helped with Bible School.
Funeral services were Thursday March 1, 2006, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Officiating the services was Brother Robert with Susie Shobe providing the music singing "One Day At A Time" and "The Old Rugged Cross." A recorded song "The Chain Of Love" by Clay Walker will also be played. Burial was in the Linville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Lee Overstreet, Troy Kite, Les Overstreet, Trent Kite, John Roberts, Butch Pantaleo and Scott Johnson. Honorary bearers were Hurdland Baptist Church members.
