Mr. Joseph A. Bergs, 77, of 425 Freemont Street, Plymouth, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, March 30, 1990.
He was born May 7, 1912 at St. Cloud, a son of Christ and Katherine Dreifuerst Bergs. On Sept. 21, 1937 he married Ester Dreifuerst at St. Cloud.
The couple resided in Plymouth since their marriage and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Sept 21, 1988.
Mr. Bergs attended St. Cloud parochial schools. He was employed at Kohler Co. at Kohler for 42 years before his retirement in 1978.
He belonged to the Kohler Quarter Century Club and was a member of Plymouth Sportsmen’s Club. He also was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at Plymouth. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.
Survivors include his wife, Ester, two daughters, Marlene Schueffner and her husband Warren of Plymouth and Jane Hau and her husband Robert of Glenbeulah; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one brother, Alfred Bergs of St. Cloud.
Preceding him in death were one granddaughter and one brother, Rupert.
The funeral Mass was Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Plymouth. Rev. Wayne Bittner officiated. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
