"Sylvester Lawson and family of Taft, Cali., who had been visiting relatives near Huntsville and Mante the past month and a half, started Tuesday on their return home. Mr. Lawson is a son of Milton Lawson and Mrs. Lawson is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Bell."

On April 3, 1930, they were renting a home in Township 7, Kern Co, CA, where Sylvester worked in an oil field.

Mrs. Gladys Marie Lawson, 71, of 1129 West Third Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois died at the family residence June 27. The daughter of James and Hattie Morgan Bell, she was born December 15, 1901, in West Plaines, Missouri, and had resided in Mr. Carmel for the past year.

She was married to Sylvester Lawson in Huntsville, Ark. February 10, 1916, and he survives.

Also surviving are two children, Mrs. Hattie Marie Schular, Mt. Carmel, and Sylvester Lawson, Jr., Anchorage, Alaska; three brothers, Ivor Bell, Taft, Calif., Emory Bell, and Jay Bell, both of Portland, Oregon; five sisters, Mrs. Irene Wallingford, Haines, Oregon, Mrs. Virgie Harrington and Mrs. Nida Brown, both of Green field, Calif.; Mrs. Letha McBroom and Mrs. Grace Goucher, both of Huntsville, Ark.; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorene Lawson.

Mrs. Lawson was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Summersville, Missouri.

Funeral services were June 29 at 2 o'clock at the Roy D. Short Memorial Chapel with Rev. Albert Altenberger officiating. Interment was in Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. John Goucher and daughter, Mrs. Virginia Harvey, and Mrs. Letha McBroom and daughter, Mrs. Anna Mae Dotson, attended the funeral services."

Mrs. Gladys Marie Lawson, 71, daughter of James and Hattie Morgan Bell, was born Dec. 15, 1901 in West Plains, Mo. and died June 27, 1973 in Mt. Carmel Ill, where she had resided for the past year.

She was united in marriage Feb. 10, 1916 to Sylvester Lawson in Huntsville, Ark.

Mrs. Lawson lived near Eunice, Mo, for 40 years and was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Summersville.

Survivors are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Hattie Marie Shular of Mt. Carmel, Ill.; one son, Sylvester Lawson, Jr. from Anchorage, Alaska; three brothers; five sisters; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 29 and burial was in Highland, Memorial, Mt. Carmel, Ill."

Sylvester Lawson, 85, former Texas Countian, died Nov. 23 in Mt. Carmel, Ill.

He lived on a farm at Eunice for 41 years, leaving there in 1972 to be near his daughter and family.

Born Jan. 29, 1897 in Huntsville, Ark., the son of Melton and Emma (Stansfield) Lawson, he was married to Gladys Marie Bell, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Marie) Shular of Mt. Carmel; a son, Sylvester Lawson, Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska; three sisters, Mrs. Effie Dorsey of Springdale, Ark., Mrs. Nancy Ann Watson of Wesley, Ark., and Mrs. Inez Watkins of Red Bluff, Calif.; one brother, Melvin Lawson of Huntsville, Ark.; five half sisters, Mrs. Adel Richardson of Huntsville, Ark., Mrs. Geneva Eubanks of Lansing, Mich., Mrs.. Lida Coppenbarger of Arkansas City, Kan., Mrs. Reba Moren of Wichita, Kan., and Mrs. Doris Thomas of Huntsville, Ark; one half-brother, Curtis Lawson of Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, one daughter, Lauren Lawson; three brothers and sisters.

Mr. Lawson was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church."
