Barbara Ellen Carpenter Simpson, 76, of Martinsville, Illinois died Friday (May 17, 2013) at her residence.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Martinsville Bible Church, Illinois with the Rev. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will be at Medsker Cemetery in Martinsville, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Martinsville Bible Church, Martinsville, Illinois. Greenwell Funeral Home in Martinsville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born June 18, 1936, in Martinsville, Illinois the daughter of Carl Carpenter and Florence Miller Carpenter. She married Bernard "Bernie" Lee Simpson in 1954; he died in 2013.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Simpson of Effingham, Illinois: and Danny Simpson of Casey, Illinois; one daughter, JoLee Reichert of Martinsville, Illinois; one brother, William Henry Carpenter of Martinsville, Illinois; two sisters, Arlene Lascelles and Maxine Janney, both of Martinsville, Illinois; and three grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one sister.
Mrs. Simpson was formerly a homemaker, and was a member of the Island Grove Baptist Church.
