A son of John Ananias & Mary Catherine (Baechler) Eckroat, he was married to Mary Alice (Hall) Eckroat.

Seed Firm Founder Dies at 78


William M. Eckroat Sr., 78, of 8209 Lakehurst, died today at Mercy Hospital following a Short illness.

Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home, followed by mass at 9 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery.

Eckroat was a native of Oklahoma City and a graduate of St. Joseph's School. He farmed east of Oklahoma City until 1927 when he moved into Oklahoma City and founded Eckroat Seed Co. He was later a rancher in McClain County while continuing to live in Oklahoma City. He retired from ranching in the
1960's.

He also engaged in the oil Business during the 1930s. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home; two Sons, William Jr., Oklahoma City; and Arthur V., Oklahoma City; a daughter, Mrs. L. L.
(Rosemary) Bachle, Oklahoma City; a step-son, Anthony L. Tambini, Virginia Beach, Va.; Four step-daughters, Mrs. Mary Lee Ruelle, Atlanta; Mrs. Dorothy Ann Ray, Moore; and Margaret Tambini and Cathy Tambini, both of the home; three Brothers, John, Dan and Paul, all of Oklahoma City; 22 grand- children and 13 great-grandchildren. The family has designated Memorials to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation As appropriate.
