Malinda Martin Fite was the beloved wife of Josephus Fite. They were married on November 28, 1839 in Brown County, Ohio.

Malinda's beloved husband Josephus Fite is buried beside Malinda.

For a number of years this cemetery was not well maintained and was plundered multiple times. At one time, there was a broken and darkened marker, followed by a missing marker.

In 1849, when Josephus was thirty-one years old and Malinda was twenty-seven years old, they settled in Otter Creek Township, Ripley County, Indiana, coming from Brown County, Ohio with their first five children, all girls, and with both of Malinda's parents, at least five of Malinda's siblings, and a young Martin nephew.

Henry Josephus Fite, their first boy, was born shortly after Josephus and Malinda relocated to Ripley County, Indiana.

Residing in Ripley County, Indiana, four more children (including Henry) were then born to them, making a total of nine children, seven girls and two boys.

Josephus and Malinda remained in Ripley County, Indiana for the remainder of their lives.

Malinda Martin Fite was the mother of Ursula Fite Martin (1838-1916), Matilda Fite Martin (1840-1910), Nancy Fite Foss (1942-1909), Almeda Fite Ridgley (1844-1911), Hannah Fite Losey ((b. 1846), Sarah Ellen Fite Stratton Foss (1848-1931), Henry Josephus Fite (1849-1937), Daniel Orrin Fite (1851-1947) and Rebecca Fite Hutson (b. 1855).

Of her nine children, seven of them relocated to Lawrence County, Illinois, settling with or near Malinda's recently widowed oldest brother, John Alexander Martin. Only Hannah Fite Losey remained in Ripley County, Indiana and Sarah Ellen Fite Stratton Foss returned to Ripley County in 1921 after the death of her second husband in Lawrence County, Illinois.

How lonely it must have been for them to see seven of their nine children leave Ripley County to relocate to Lawrence County, Illinois.
