Koosharem, Utah
Rulon Brozell Torgerson, 101, passed away peacefully in his home in Koosharem, July 28, 2013. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, returned to his Father in heaven after living a full life. He was blessed with excellent health while living in his own home.
Rulon was born November 25, 1911 in Koosharem to Torval and Josephine Frederickson Torgerson. He married his sweetheart, Mable Vanette Montague March 22, 1937 in Richfield. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. She preceded him in death, April 13, 2002.
Rulon loved life. He was a hardworking farmer and had many talents. He was willing to help his friends and neighbors in many capacities. He was a actually a "jack-of-all-trades." He enjoyed visiting with friends and sharing stories of hunting, fishing and his many adventures.
The most important things in his life were his family and his church. He served for eight years in the ward bishopric. He loved taking his family on outings into the mountains he loved so much. He would always have special picnics with them and each winter they would pick out that special Christmas tree for the holidays.
While running his farm he also worked at the Gypsum Plant, the Forest Service at Fish Lake and he drove the milk truck for Banquet Creamery in Loa. He enjoyed helping Mable in her garden so she would have beautiful vegetables to bottle. He and Mable were members of the Old Folks Party Committee for nine years.
In their retirement they enjoyed participating in the Senior Citizens Group. Each month they would travel to Manti to attend the temple. They both loved to read and listen to music. They danced beautifully together and taught their children to dance also.
In Rulon's declining years his children appreciated the patience, love and kindness he showed them as they cared for him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Rulon is survived by his children: Richard (Clayone) Torgerson, Maxine (Coombs) Hall, Barbara (Mack) Sorenson, Geraldine Trujillo and Fred M (Kathe) Torgerson; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Paul Trujillo; two grandchildren; his siblings and their spouses: George, Ransford, William, Orson, Elmer, Emma, Eva, Edward, Sidney, Nellie, Charles, Reuben, Lynn, Leland and Lillian.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Koosharem Ward Chapel.
Burial will be in the Koosharem Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
