After an illness of several years Mrs. Sarah Hammel died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bessie Lane, in Monroe. The immediate cause of her death was dropsy of the heart. She was the widow of Nathan Hammel and was seventy-two years in August. Mrs. Hammel was a consistent member of the Methodist church and during her long life was the author of many kind deeds. Deceased was also a member of the Woman’s Relief Corps of Stockwell and always took an active part in the affairs of the order. She was the mother of nine children three of whom survive, Joseph Hammel, of Indianapolis, Mrs. Kate Morrison, of Stockwell, and Mrs. Bessie Lane, of Monroe. The funeral will be held from the Methodist church at Stockwell Saturday morning at 10 o’clock with interment in the Concord cemetery.
