He was born in Lexington County, a son of the late Howard Livingston Jeffcoat and Louellen Jeffcoat. He barbered in Orangeburg and Sumter for 37 years; served in the Army National Guard for 10 years (discharged as a corporal); and also worked for 15 years at the Seaboard Coastline Railroad. He was a past master of Sumter Lodge No. 364 AFM, the York Rite Beulah Chapter No. 25, Seymour Council No. 15, Sumter Commandery No. 20, a past worthy patron of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 149 of Sumter, a member of the Gideons, the American Legion Post No. 15 and coached youth baseball and football for Sumter Parks & Recreation for many years. He will always be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Mae Mills; a sister, Frances Whetstone; and a son-in-law, David Stone.
