Harley Gravley, 83, of the North Groesbeck community near Quanah, died Friday, may 30, in a Quanah hospital after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. sunday at Quanah with burial in the Quanah cemetery.

Gravley was born in Jasper, GA, and was a retired farmer.

An avid fisherman, he was the first in the Quanah area to develop a type of fish bait which soon was marketed to most fishermen of the area, including Wellington.

Gravley is survived by his wife, Myrtle Gravley; one son, Donald Gravley of Abilene, 5 sisters: Mrs. Ola Mae Forbis of Wellington; Mrs. Opal Ford of Childress; Mrs. Mary McNutt of Weatherford; Mrs. Lela Foard of Memphis; and Mrs. C.P. Beard of Hollis; and two brothers, Martin Gravley of Childress and L.R. (Jack) Gravley of Quanah.
