OGLETHORPE, GA - Elizabeth Heath Barfield Smith, age 86, of Oglethorpe, Ga passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Flint River Hospital in Montezuma, Ga.
Visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Oglethorpe United Methodist Church with Rev. Joy Wilson and Rev. Joey Cannon officiating.
Burial will follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Smith was born September 2, 1926 to the late James Elmer and Tommie Grace Allen Heath. She was a member of Oglethorpe United Methodist Church and was an employee at Southern Frozen Foods for 32 years. She loved flowers and watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Charlie Lewis (C.L.) Barfield; second husband, James Sanders Smith; and her son, Buddy Barfield.
She is survived by her children, Peggy B. Harvey of Montezuma, Ga and Randy (Tracey) Smith of Suwanee, Ga; daughter-in-law, Karen Barfield of Lawrenceville, Ga; two brothers, James (Linda) Heath of Woodland, Ga, Bill (Ellen) Heath of Macon, Ga; and three sisters, Gloria Hancock of LaGrange, Ga, Ellen (Glen Lee) Chase of Oglethorpe, Ga, and Judy (Steve) Smith of Ideal, Ga. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Cheryl Harvey, Jason Harvey, Kylee Smith, and Joshua Smith; two step-grandchildren, Dane Kanazawa and Wes Kanazawa; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Harvey, Alex Harvey, and Madison Harvey; three step-great-grandchildren, Windsor Kanazawa, Madison Kanazawa, and Aiden Hall-Kanazawa; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
