She was born August 1, 1901 in the Town of New Holstein daughter of the late John & Rose (Pfister) Wieseckel. Freda married Arthur Depies on June 27, 1922 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hilbert. He preceded her in death in May of 1983. During her life, Freda worked for Lawson Foundry, Hernke Cheese Factory, and the Hilbert School System. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hilbert, the Christian Mothers, Daughters of Isabella, American Legion Auxiliary, Senior Citizens group, and the 500 Club where she was a member from 1933-1995. Freda enjoyed knitting afghans, raising African Violets, playing Sheepshead and 500.
Survivors include her children: Rainer (Margaret) Depies of Kimberly, Gerald (Joyce) Depies of Appleton; 5 grandchildren: Michael (Debra) Depies, Barbara (Bruce) Rashke, John (Monica) Depies, Charles (Lynn) Depies, Nathan (Shay) Depies; 9 great grandchildren: Joe (Amy) Depies, Benjamin Depies, Alex Kocher, Brittany, Melissa, Olivia, Berit, Sawyer & Tyler Depies; 3 step great grandchildren: Ellen, Neal & Karen Rashke; and a brother-in-law: Henry (Hildegard) Depies of Chilton. She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Joyce Dorothy Depies; 3 brothers: Herbert, Wilfred & Gilbert Wieseckel; 2 sisters: Edna Pagelow & Erma Toonen; 5 brothers-in-law: Joseph, Walter, Edger, Arthur & Aloysius Depies; and a sister-in-law: Dorothy Roehrig.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday June 3, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hilbert with the Rev. David Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9:30-11:00 AM on Saturday June 3, 2006 when services will be held. Wieting Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
