Mrs. Martha Tanner

Mrs. Martha Tanner, 73, of Magee died Jan. 26 at the Magee General Hospital following a three-month illness. She was a native of Simpson County and a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church.

Services were held at the Calvary Presbyterian Church Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Sonny Smith, Rev. Caley R. Nichols and the Rev G. H. Gordon officiating. Interment followed in the Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Mims Mitchell Funeral Home of Magee.

She is survived by her husband, Emerson Tanner, Magee; four daughters, Mrs. Otis Bishop and Mrs. Lola Hill, both of Jackson; Mrs. Kenneth Green and Mrs. Pete Barnard, both of Magee; and two sons, L. E. Tanner, Mendenhall and Billy Joe Tanner, Peoria, Ill.

Other survivors include seven sisters, Mrs. Leona Kennedy, Mrs. Georgia Runnels, and Mrs. Myrtle Runnels, all of Magee; Mrs. Rosie Tanner, Jackson; Mrs. Caley Magee, Memphis, Tenn.; and Mrs. Beulah Johnston, Forest, La.; and Mrs. Lois Bankston, Jackson, La.; and two brothers, Ross Butler, Magee; and Laurin Butler, Forest, La.

She also is survived by 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
