Alice Burt, 82, was born 7 June 1889 near Thurber mines, Palo Pinto Co., Texas to John Edward Penman Chapman Thompson and Elizabeth Esther Bence of Durham, Durham Co., England. Her father had originally immigrated in 1875, returning to England and returning with a family started. Allie married James Richard Burt on Dec. 25, 1909 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They lived at (Trusdale) Box, in Cleveland County (near Wanette), Ok. She died Saturday, May 13, 1972 at Leisure Manor Nursing Home in Okmulgee, OK. She came to the Okmulgee area from Oklahoma City in 1925 and was formerly employed at the Roach Feed and Seed Co. She was a member of the Northside Assembly of God Church.
The Rev. Bill Sowders, pastor, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Charles Capps. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Henryetta under the direction of the Hayhurst-Wood Funeral Home.
Pallbears will be Lincoln Brewer, Billy Payne, Clarence Logan, Henry Brown, Sam Starkey and Sgt. Merideth Tripp.
Mrs. Burt was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sons; Jessie and Tommie, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
Survivors include her husband, James Richard Burt Sr., of the home in Okmulgee; a daughter, Mrs. Leatha Marsh, Okmulgee: two sons, Lonnie Burt, Oklahoma City, and James Richard Burt Jr., Pauls Valley; 5 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren: four sisters, Mrs. Maggie Henderson, Okmulgee, Mrs. Anna Ritchie and Mrs. Jettie Robison, both of Shawnee and Mrs. Aline Blue of Abeline , Texas.
