PFEIFER - Elizabeth L. Berens, 90, died July 27, 1989, at Rush County Memorial Hospital, LaCrosse. Born Elizabeth Legleiter Nov. 5, 1898, at Liebenthal, she married Adam Schmidt June 11, 1918, at Pfeifer. He died May 27, 1934. She later married Bill Berens June 11, 1946, at Walker. He died Nov. 8, 1962. A homemaker, she was a resident of Pfeifer most of her life.
She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Altar Society, both of Pfeifer.
Survivors: sons, Julius Schmidt, Fargo, N.D., Raymond Schmidt, Chicago, Alvin Schmidt, Hutchinson; daughters, Dorothy Heck, Chicago, Cleopha Warteman, Eau Claire, Wis., Rita Urban, Bison; 24 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Parish rosary will be 8 p.m. Sunday at Janousek Funeral Home, LaCrosee. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at the church, Father Didacus Dunn. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
