Alois Bielen
Loyal - Alois "Al" J. Bielen, 76, of W2557 153 Road in the town of Beaver, Clark County, died at 8:27 p.m. Feb. 1, 2000, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal with the Very Rev. Roman Kaiser officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery with full military rites presented by the Loyal American Legion Post 175. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Keith Bielen, Shane Wolf, Adam Pettis, Matt Wurzer, Jeremy Olson, Diana Pettis, Karen Pettis, Kim Wolf, Jessica Henry, Colleen Henry and Michelle Wurzer.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Cuddie Funeral Home with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m.
Alois James Bielen was born on June 15, 1923, in Knowlton, the son of John and Pauline (nee Barzcyz) Bielen. He attended Kosciusko School in rural Mosinee. He served his country in the United States Army from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945.
On May 31, 1947, Al and Eva Angeline Kuranda were united in marriage in Mosinee. The young couple moved to the Chicago area where Al worked in a factory and farmed. They then returned to Knowlton where Al had his own milk route. In 1951 Al and Eva purchased a farm in the town of Beaver and farmed there until 1967. They sold the farm and moved to the current Bielen residence. Eva died in 1982 following a battle with cancer. Al continued to work at Pathfinder Homes, Greenwood Homes and Dickman Homes and was a supervisor for each of those companies. He was currently employed by Berg Equipment in Marshfield. Al was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal. He greatly enjoyed fishing, hunting and carpentry work and loved to spend time with his family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Beverly (Paul "Mic") Pettis of Cadott, Dave (Sandy) Bielen of Marshfield, Lois (Clarence) Henry of Waukon, Iowa, Susan (Philip) Olson of Loyal and Paul (Kathy) Bielen of Santa Rosa, Calif.; sister, Betty (Myron) Kroll of Mosinee; brothers, Theodore Bielen of St. Germain, Edward (Eleanor) Bielen of Mosinee; sisters-in-law, Katherine Bielen of Mosinee, Mary Bielen of Mosinee and Marcella Bielen of Mosinee; brothers-in-law, Charles Stroyny of Mosinee and Ed Hahn of Mosinee; 14 grandchildren, Diana Pettis of Bloomington, Minn., Michelle (Matthew) Wurzer of Cadott, Karen Pettis of Bloomington, Adam Pettis of River Falls, Eva Pettis of Cadott, Johanna Pettis of Cadott, Keith (Stephanie) Bielen of Green Bay, Jessica Henry of Waukon, Iowa, Colleen Henry of Waukon, Kimberly Wolf of Whitewater, Shane Wolf of Loyal, Jeremy Olson of Thorp, Max Bielen of Santa Rosa, Calif, and Alexis Bielen of Santa Rosa; and one great-grandson, Dylan Bielen of Green Bay.
Alois was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eva, on Feb. 9, 1982; his granddaughter, Jennifer Bielen on Feb. 11, 1999; his brothers, Peter, Robert and Wally Bielen; and sisters, Nell Hahn, Clara Molinare and Julia Stroyny.
