Susanna was named after her paternal grandmother. She died at the very young age of 16. 3 years after her death, her parents had another girl and they gave her the name of Susanna, in memory of the daughter they lost too soon as well as her paternal grandmother.
Today's Alford cemetery is not the original cemetery. The new cemetery was opened in 1853. There is a burial ground a few yards away from the new cemetery. Sadly, the headstones were removed in the 50-60's and the area leveled to create green, open space. Shameful, there is no way to visit the graves of family buried there. No one I can find knows what happened to the headstones. The church that was located there was demolished.
