STEPHENS—Of pneumonia, March 24, 1895, Mrs. L. Stephens, aged 65 years, 4 months, and 6 days.

She was born in Virginia Nov. 18, 1829, and died March 24, 1895. She was married to John D. Stephens, January 6, 1847. Of the twelve children born of this union ten are living. She united with the Baptist church in 1870, and lived a constant christian until death.

The mortality in the Stephens family, near this city, during the past week, is indeed a sad record. On the 18th, Philip, aged 22, son of Mrs. America Stephens, died; following this, on the 24th, the mother died; on the 25th, Mrs. Lewis, a daughter, died and on the following day, the 26th another daughter, Mrs. Archer, died. Besides this another brother and sister living near Millard, are quite ill, as also is Mr. Archer, husband of the deceased Mrs. Archer.
