Jerusha Beers was born in Weston, CT to Fanton and Sarah Ann (Fairchild) Beers. Her father was a Revolutionary War patriot who had serious health and financial problems in his old age. A soldiers pension gave him some relief.
Jerusha married Hezekiah Cole in 1806 and they soon moved to Kent, CT where "Hez" purchased land (he was a recipient in his fathers generous will) and became a successful farmer. Jerusha and Hezekiah raised four children, three girls and one boy (David). The children married well and all spent their lives in the beautiful Litchfield County area. Jerusha is buried next to her husband in Saint Andrews Episcopal Church cemetery in the village of Kent, CT.
