WILSON AMOS TONIHKA
February 5, 1929 ~ February 1, 1993

Wilson Amos Tonihka, 63, of Broken Bow, passed away Monday in Idabel. He was born Feb. 5, 1929, in Broken Bow.

Mr. Tonihka lived in McCurtain County all of his life. He was born to Lena Hicks of Broken Bow and was reared by his aunt, Carrie Bohanan, of Eagletown.

He was a veteran, having served in the army as a paratrooper in the Korean War. He was a member of the Messianic Jewish Church.

He married Melba Alexander on May 3, 1990, in DeQueen, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Tonihka, his grandfather, John Bohann, and his uncle, Rev. John Bohanan.

Survivors include his wife, Melba Tonihka of the home; his mother, Lena Hicks of Broken Bow; four sons, Wilbur Tonihka, Allen and Sherrill Tonihka, all of Idabel, and William Tonihka of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Ann French of Pueblo, Colo., and Sheila Tonihka;

Three step-sons, Roy Harbour, Paul Harbour and David Harbour, all of Broken Bow; one step-daughter, Barbara Ann McMullen of Germany;

One sister, Betsy Tonihka; one half-brother, John Joshua Tonihka of Oregon; and two half-sisters, Carrie Swartz of Texarkana, Tx., and Theda Tonihka Jefferson of Apache.

Funeral services are scheduled Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mountain Fork Presbyterian Indian Church in Eagletown.

Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Broken Bow under direction of Norwood, Coffey-Leonard Funeral Home of Broken Bow.
