Doris Edwards Miles, 100, of Grenada, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at her home following a short illness. Visitation was held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at National Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 12. Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12, in the chapel of National Funeral Home. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada.
Mrs. Doris was born on June 17, 1910, in Banner, Miss. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grenada. Doris was a homemaker and was well known for her gardening skills which included her ability to grow tomatoes.
Mrs. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Victor E. Miles; a daughter, Vara Roberts; one son, Earl Miles; a daughter-in-law, Loyce Miles; and two son-in-laws, Roy Nye and Grayson McMullan.
Survivors include her daughter, Jean Nye; son-in-law, Albert Roberts; daughter-in-law, Ann Miles; daughters, Lois (Bill) Gore, Linda (John) Myer, Bonnie McMullan; sons, Dr. G. E. (Judy) Miles, Mike (Carolyn) Miles and Hayes Miles. Also 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Hospital, Memphis, TN or the Palmer Children's Home in Columbus, Miss.
National Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
