Severt Charles Hudson, 87, of Truman, died Saturday, August 22, 1998 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Truman.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 1998 at the Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James with Pastor Ted Kunze officiating. The organist will be Cecelia Kulseth and the vocalists will be Suzette and Glen Hudson Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery i St. James.
Severt Charles Hudson, son of Wilbur and Christina(Hodne) Hudson, was born July 6, 1911 at Irwin, Iowa. Servert moved with his family to the Godahl and Grogan area of rural St. James as a child. He attended rural school.
His marriage to Emma Firchau took place Janurary 11, 1932 at the St. Paul's Lutheran parsonage in St. James. Severt was employed in farming, construction, truck driving and a painting contractor. He ha been retired for the past 15 years.
Severt was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran and First Presbyterian Churches in St. James. Severt enjoyed fishing playing cards and horseback riding. He had been a resident of the nursing home for the past two and a haif years.
Severt is survived by his wife, Emma of St. James; daughters, Donna Watson and her husband, Hugh of Eight Mile, Ala. and Janice Workinthein and her husband, Glen of Granite Falls; sons, Charles (Chuck) and his wife, Virgina and Donald and his wife Diane, all of St. James and Glen and his wife, Suzette of Woodville, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Severt was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Betty Ann, two grandsons, five sisters and four brothers.
